Danny Gokey has experienced tragedy in his life when he lost his young wife, Sophia, in 2008 due to routine heart surgery. Then with losing on last seasons American Idol to Kris Allen and Adam Lambert, he has undoubtedly earned the right to not have a smile pasted on his face. However, he does and with good reason.

His first album, My Best Days, has had tremendous success. It is the strongest selling country album for a new male singer in 18 years. Also his single “My Best Days are Ahead of Me” is in the top 10 country songs. On top of this success, Gokey will be opening for Sugarland on tour this spring.

He has also invested large amounts of time to continue the success of Sophia’s Heart Foundation, dedicated to his late wife; an organization that focuses on helping children to establish a connection through arts and music. Indeed, Gokey has a lot to smile about these days; from his success in his career to his new outlook on life.

In his lyrics, Gokey sings of the possibility of finding love again. However, for now Gokey appears to be enjoying his life and career
