A Gasoline Pipeline Company out of North Carolina found out just how explosive and dangerous lightning can really be, and that it does strike twice. Fire officials in Greensboro announced that lightning was indeed the culprit reasonable for Saturday’s sky high fire.
Apparently lightning repeatedly hit a tank containing tens of thousand of barrels of gasoline, resulting in the tank catching on fire. Luckily for the town’s residents the local fire department was able to get the fire under control before it could do any real damage.
Locals reported seeing a massive amount of dark smoke and what appeared to be the sky on fire. Officials and locals have confirmed that no one was hurt by the fire and that everyone was able to remain in their residence.
The local fire chief is said to have stated that the fire was not an easy one to control and that at any given moment and with one slip up the barrels could have easily exploded and the fire would have spread. It appears the Greensboro, North Carolina residents do indeed have some truly skilled firemen keeping their city safe.
